ANCHORING

This clip from OU Nightly demonstrates my ability to adapt to technical difficulties in the control room. During this segment of the Earth Report, an audio issue caused my portion to be temporarily removed. Although the issue was resolved and most elements were restored, my first story was not properly reinserted, requiring the main anchor to cover it during the block. Despite the disruption, we quickly recovered, and the broadcast appeared smooth to viewers at home. This experience underscores the importance of adaptability and composure under pressure, key qualities in a live production environment.

This OU Nightly Update Desk segment represents a routine example of my work, highlighting my ability to gather quotes from media platforms and identify relevant news to inform the public, even on slower news days. For this story, I researched outage totals using online databases and updated the segment with the most current information, as many media outlets had reported on the issue before the full extent of the social media outages had occurred.

CAMERAMAN/PHOTOGRAPHER

This live shot was set up by a team of three, with me serving as the lead photographer for one of our live shot crews. We worked collaboratively with the reporter to quickly establish the shot, which aired smoothly during the newscast. This clip shows the conclusion of that live shot and highlights my ability to craft a clean, visually expressive scene that captures the location of the story. It also demonstrates my leadership and teamwork, as I ensured the reporter understood how the shot was framed and what elements were included—helping them feel confident and prepared for a clear, polished delivery.

AFRO POP PACKAGE

This package was developed as part of my coursework during my final semester at the University of Oklahoma. It showcases my proficiency in editing seamless sequences and my adaptability in generating original b-roll content when timely responses from companies or organizations are unavailable.

PROFESSIONAL PAPER

Journalism & Objectivity

This research paper explores the concept of journalistic objectivity, its historical roots, ethical significance, and practical limitations in modern media. I examine how fairness, factuality, and nonpartisanship shape responsible reporting, while acknowledging the inherent subjectivity every journalist brings to their work. The paper argues that, although complete objectivity may be philosophically unattainable, transparency, verification, and ethical standards remain essential tools in the pursuit of truth in an increasingly polarized media environment.
